    Job Description:

    A behavioral health technician is expected to understand and implement individual treatment plans, record patient behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients. The technician may provide and record patient medications and assist in daily activities, whether therapeutic or recreational. The job may also include mediating or restricting any disruptive behavior. Some of the most important skills required for this field include interpersonal and observational skills, along with physical stamina, coordinating client passes, meetings, and health and safety.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the completion of intake forms and orientation of the facility and program rules and regulations for a continuum of care and assists clients in the coordination of aftercare planning.
    • Assist and cover for the Intake Coordinator with intake and admission duties of new clients.
    • Assessment of client needs and follow-up to ensure vocational and legal needs are being met (organize and facilitate disability, social security, progress letter paperwork, etc.)
    • Responsible for interacting with court and probation.
    • Assist clients with getting to court, probation, or other required outside agencies. Provide or arrange client transportation to appointments as needed.
    • Monitor the client’s money, phase allowance, and compliance with money protocol. With clients present, check their online bank statements monthly to ensure compliance with the money protocol.
    • Assist clients with getting to court, probation, or other required outside agencies.
    • Maintains appropriate records such as ongoing progress notes, reports to referring agencies, discharge summaries, discharge recovery plans, and clinical case records as required by external stakeholders.
    • Monitor and supervise facility upkeep, safety cleanliness, hygiene standards, client confidentiality, and security.
    • Responsible for facilitating patient education groups as assigned by the Program Director.
    • Responsible for all required reports and documents to internal and external sources. Completes all required documentation according to set timeframes and completes all required documentation accurately and thoroughly.
    • Advocate with approved third parties with a release of information on behalf of the client. Including letters to referral agencies, and courts/probation.
    • Oversee client meetings/passes in the evening.
    • Monitor client schedules and activities. Conduct regular rounds throughout the shift accounting for each client.
    • Answer phones and direct calls. Complete the shopping for the house supplies as directed by Quality Assurance Manager
    • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent care information to assure client rights are protected.
    • Communicates clearly and professionally with clients, staff, peers, supervisors, and families. Fully understands and maintains policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client and company confidentiality.
    • Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural competency.
    • Working knowledge of the philosophy and approach of 12 Step program concepts along with the specialized curriculum.
    • Complete intakes, and monitor client’s compliance with the program schedule and protocols.
    • Communicate observations and shift activities regularly.
    • Conduct house searches and drug testing as directed.
    • Crisis intervention and supportive counseling as needed.
    • Attends all required OCHA and Gerry House staff training.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
