    Position Summary
    This role leads protection and control (P&C) engineering and design efforts for high-voltage substation projects supporting large-scale, transmission-connected renewable energy facilities. The position collaborates closely with multidisciplinary substation teams to deliver coordinated, code-compliant design documents from concept through construction support.

    • Lead protection and control engineering and design for high-voltage and EHV substation projects.
    • Support large-scale renewable energy projects interconnected at the transmission level.
    • Coordinate with physical, civil/structural, relay settings, and SCADA teams.
    • Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and drafters.
    • Ensure deliverables meet stakeholder requirements and applicable codes and standards.

    Job Function

    • Perform protection and control design for high-voltage (4 kV–230 kV) and EHV (>230 kV) substations.
    • Develop P&C drawings including one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
    • Prepare engineering studies including AC/DC load calculations, CT saturation, and cable sizing.
    • Assist with development of major equipment specifications.
    • Review vendor submittals for compliance.
    • Perform quality reviews and cross-discipline checks.
    • Attend project meetings and support procurement and construction activities.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
    • EIT certification required.
    • Minimum of four years of experience in high-voltage substation P&C design.

    Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of substation zones of protection.
    • Experience with protection schemes for transmission lines, buses, transformers, and capacitor banks.
    • Knowledge of major relay manufacturers and applications.
    • Familiarity with substation equipment and AC/DC station service systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and NERC standards.
