ECNS is looking for a part-time Substation Protection & Control Engineer to work on a contract basis. This is the perfect role for retired or freelance engineers that are looking for additional work. Day time availability is preferred. Location: On-Site: Work From Home Travel Requirements: 25%
PRIMARY DUTIES
Serve as a subject matter expert in digital substations; IEC 61850, centralized protection, and digital twin technology.
Develop specification documentation employing the Top-Down Engineering approach and utilizing readily available tools.
Provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate substation automation into broader grid management systems.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in digital substation technology and contribute to our innovation initiatives.
Develop conceptual single-line diagrams and network diagrams.
Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of digital substations for our clients.
Configure protection relay devices from various vendors, including SEL, Siemens, ABB, GE, and Schneider.
Demonstrate proficient troubleshooting skills in protection and control, automation, and relay networks.
Develop commissioning procedures for efficient digital substation deployment.
Develop and lead protection and control maintenance training programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 1+ years of power industry experience, or a similar combination.
Configuration expertise of protection relay devices from vendors such as ABB/Hitachi, SEL, and Siemens.
Excellent listening, reading, communication (technical, written, & verbal), attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
