Novastar Kids Co provides private educational service to children ages six weeks to fourteen years. The service includes child care, preschool, kindergarten, elementary through secondary education, summer camps, special events, enrichment classes, and after-school program. About the Role:
Join Novastar Kids Co as a Substitute Child Care Teacher and make a meaningful impact in our classrooms. We are looking for flexible, dependable educators who can step in to maintain continuity of care when our regular teachers are absent. This PRN/On-Call position is ideal for those seeking work-life balance, educators pursuing further education, or professionals looking to stay connected to early childhood education. You'll work across our integrated, inclusive preschool classrooms serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, implementing lesson plans and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Follow established lesson plans, daily schedules, and classroom routines provided by the regular teacher.
Supervise and engage students in developmentally appropriate activities.
Provide a safe, responsive, stimulating, and nurturing classroom environment.
Tend to children's personal care needs including diapering, toileting assistance, feeding, and nap time supervision.
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols including proper food handling.
Implement behavior guidance techniques consistent with classroom practices.
Support students with special needs following provided accommodation instructions.
Supervise children on the playground and during transitions.
Document daily activities, incidents, and care routines in classroom logs.
Maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times.
Communicate urgent concerns to administration immediately.
Handle emergencies and injuries in a safe and professional manner.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Colorado Shines PDIS Level 3.0, Level 2 minimum.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Experience in childcare, preschool, or similar educational setting.
Basic knowledge of child development (ages 6 weeks to 6 years).
Ability to follow established routines and lesson plans.
Ability to implement behavior modification techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work with children requiring diapering and toileting assistance.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Flexibility to respond to substitute requests with short notice.
Availability to work variable days/hours (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM window).
Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
