Purpose: To help fulfill the mission of Hill Country Christian School of Austin by ensuring that visitors are properly screened, identified, and admitted to school facilities, that internal and external phone calls are serviced in a timely manner during a receptionist’s absence.
Accountability: Reports to Substitute Coordinator
FLSA Status: Exempt, Hourly
Qualifications:
- Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
- Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Google applications and Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Must possess an excellent customer service attitude.
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Follows the Receptionist Policies and Procedures Handbook as reviewed during training.
- Answer all phone calls in a professional and timely manner.
- Greet, assist, and direct visitors and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist with signing students in and out of school, ensuring students only leave with those approved to pick up.
- Provide timely and helpful answers to all questions or refer quickly to another person at the school if additional expertise is needed.
- Maintain security by following safety procedures and controlling access to the campus. Ensure all visitors have background checks performed through the visitor management system and have proper identification with them.
- Immediately notify security or appropriate administrator of any visitor requesting access to the school who is flagged in the visitor management system.
- Keep all information regarding the school, students, families, and staff/faculty confidential.
- Interacts in a Christ-like manner at all times. Utilize the interpersonal relationship method of “Matthew 18” as commanded by Jesus Christ.
- Adheres to policies and procedures in the Substitute Handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position the majority of the time using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. Operates a computer the majority of the time.
- Ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, vendors, and others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations whether in person, via email, or via telephone.
- Must be flexible and adapt to various schedules and administrative changes.
- Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
