Job Summary
Chesterton Academy of The Divine Family, a joyfully Catholic, classical high school in the Chesterton Schools Network, seeks Substitute Teachers for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Substitute teachers provide essential classroom support by ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. They are expected to uphold the school’s Catholic identity, maintain a structured and respectful classroom environment, and deliver lesson plans as provided.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working with high school students in a faith-based setting and who are willing to step in with flexibility and professionalism when needed.
Responsibilities
Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to maintain instructional continuity
Supervise and engage students respectfully and in alignment with school culture
Maintain classroom order and a safe learning environment
Communicate any notable student behavior or classroom incidents to school leadership
Model Christian virtue and appropriate behavior in speech, actions, and demeanor
Attend to any classroom duties assigned, including taking attendance and administering assessments if required
Qualifications
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or coursework in education or a related field preferred
Previous teaching or classroom experience preferred
Practicing Roman Catholic who is joyfully faithful to the Magisterium
Ability to maintain a calm and respectful classroom presence
Willingness to uphold and represent the mission of Chesterton Academy in both conduct and communication
