Montessori Kids Universe Louisville is seeking a reliable and caring Substitute Teacher to provide classroom support when regular teachers are absent. The Substitute Teacher will help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment while supporting Montessori principles and classroom routines.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are flexible with scheduling.

Responsibilities

Supervise and care for children in accordance with Montessori Kids Universe policies and state childcare regulations

Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment

Follow lesson plans and daily routines provided by the lead teacher

Engage children in educational and age-appropriate activities

Ensure children’s safety during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions

Assist with meal times, restroom breaks, and classroom cleanup

Maintain professional communication with staff and administration

Follow all licensing requirements and safety procedures

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Previous childcare or teaching experience preferred

Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a positive learning environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work with children of various age groups (Infant, Toddler, and Pre-Primary)

Must pass background check and meet state licensing requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Montessori or early childhood education

CPR and First Aid certification

Early Childhood Education coursework or credential

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds

Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors

Schedule

On-call / as needed

Flexible weekday availability preferred
