Position Summary: Perform functions relating to the development of new products, sample preparation, packaging /shipment and continual improvement of existing products. The individual must effectively multi-task and ensure R&D projects meet established timelines. Essential Job Responsibilities: - This position reports directly to the Founder/R&D Chef. - Partner, collaborate, and support the Sales and Marketing Departments on new projects, product innovations, trade shows and product sampling. - Support the development of new products, demonstrating a clear understanding of basic food manufacturing principles. - Establish formulas and procedures for new products. - Responsible for improving formulations of existing products as directed. - Prepare nutritional analysis information. - Work closely with the QA Manager to successfully expand/scale-up recipes approved for production. - Provide cost information regarding new products and formulation changes. - Following prescribed procedures, prepares samples for presentation. - Research equipment and ingredients needed for processing of new products. - Coordinate and communicate technical product information to other departments. - Recognizes the importance of GMP, sanitation and employee safety in the workplace. - Maintain product pars & inventory levels of test kitchen ingredients while also maintaining a daily schedule of kitchen projects and activities. - Responsible for keeping the R&D kitchen organized. (Clean up and organize all food product inventory). Additional Responsibilities: - Partner with the Purchasing Department to source ingredients for new projects - Recognizes the importance of adherence to project scope, timelines, and budget for development and launch of innovations. - Coordinate cuttings for the team for products produced by Copackers. Provide feedback to the QA/Ops team. - Attend seminars, food shows, and events as required. - Perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: - Minimum: 3-5 years prior experience with undergraduate degree in food science or related field - Preferred: Prior Marketing experience within consumer-packaged goods Required Skills, Knowledge or abilities: - Technical knowledge in the composition and functionality of food preparation. - Good cooking skills, garnishing skills, and a good sense of taste and smell. - Strong work ethic. Good communication and interpersonal skills to present project results and interact within Sukhi's leadership and teams - Focused with good note-taking skills and the ability to follow direction well. - Detail oriented and accurate. - Creativity and problem analysis skills. - Ability to manage and organize multiple projects under tight deadlines. - Competence with Microsoft Office software and skilled in using a calculator. - Well-developed interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Requires standing for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, frequent lifting of material up to 50 pounds and frequent twisting, turning, reaching, pushing and pulling. .
