    Job Summary:

    SumBridge is partnering with a fast growing Fin-Tech Start Up client looking for their next Controller. The Controller will be a team leader with previous start up experience, who will be integral to scaling the organization as they target readiness to go public. The Controller will have proven hands-on experience, with a passional for building leadership and team work naturally. This role is a permanent, full-time role and will be fully remote, can work anywhere within the US or Canada.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead, plan and execute all accounting processes and activities across the organization, to ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies
    • Build a high-performance accounting team, with a focus on hiring, training, and mentorship
    • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate accounting that is GAAP compliant
    • Partner with Product and Engineering to create a ledger of all financial transactions and balances for customers that facilitates reconciliation and product features
    • Set accounting policies and procedures and provide guidance on technical accounting
    • Deliver accurate and timely management reporting of results, operating metrics, and flux analyses to internal and external stakeholders
    • Develop and lead the preparation and management of annual audit as well as other ad hoc audit activities
    • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls, processes, and guidelines
    • Partner closely with FP&A on monthly metrics reporting and annual planning process
    • Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve employee experience
    • Manage compliance related to federal, state and local income, sales, and use taxes
    • Build the technical infrastructure and control environment to support the company’s hyper-growth and prepare the company for public readiness and SOX compliance

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required with excellent technical accounting skills
    • 10+ years of experience in public accounting and hyper growth SaaS companies
    • Expert with Netsuite and have led companies through audits
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and familiarity with revenue recognition
    • Experience implementing systems to achieve scalability of the business and accounting functions
    • Proven ability to hire, manage, and mentor high-performing teams
    • Collaborative business partner, skilled in building trust with stakeholders both within and outside of the finance team
    • Attentive to detail and leadership ability to drive change and execute the plan
    • Strategic thinker and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get in the details
    • Excellent knowledge in assessing, developing, and implementing internal controls
    • Strong communicator, both written and verbal. Concise and meticulous documentation
    • Able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making

    Bonus Qualifications:

    • Passion or experience in the entertainment and/or payroll industry
    • Experience scaling fintech or payments SaaS companies
    • Experience with Airbase, AR, Procurement, Payroll tools
    • Experience in financing and M&A transaction work
