Job Description

Set up and operate a battery of machines to draw and bunch copper wire to specified small diameters and number of ends, patterns and specified quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Work from orders, schedules for most efficient production within due date parameters, computer screens and fields, production samples, written and verbal instructions, set up and operations specifications, forms, work in BPCS system. Coordinate work with other departments as required.

2. String up multi wire drawing machines. Take specified sample length and weigh to ensure proper elongation and detect die wear. Self schedule, set up and operate bunchers for most efficient production operation. Conduct inspection of set ups and finished conductor as instructed in the SOP’s and specifications.

3. Match short length multi wire reels to produce lots and to reduce frequency of partial reels.

4. Enter data in BPCS system and maintain production and related documents.

5. Set up and operate assigned group of bunchers. Complete product change overs including lay length, number of ends, tension on payoff and take up, etc. Perform cold welding for continuous operation.

6. Perform minor maintenance such as changing annealer bands.

7. Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, unusual conditions to supervision. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Maintain equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.

Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or instructed by supervisor.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE: Use of decimals and fractions, use of routine formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, diagrams, computer shop controls, menus, screens, fields systems, use of adjustable measuring instruments, checking of reports, forms, records where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

EXPERIENCE: Over 1 year and up to and including 3 years of progressive learning experience.

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to selection of stock, set up and operation of a multi draw and bunching equipment and machine and to ensure that product meets quality specifications, quantity and schedules within the limits of recognized or standard methods or procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: Light physical effort consisting of a mixture of rare heavy to negligible effort equivalent to frequent light effort.

MENTAL VISUAL DEMAND: Continuous mental and visual demand along with manual coordination on diversified duties requiring constant alertness and activity.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Some what disagreeable working conditions. Exposed to machine noise, etc. where one or other element is present to the extent of being disagreeable continuously.
