About Us: We’re a group of parents in Vancouver, Wa organizing a summer co-op program for our elementary-aged children. Our goal is simple: learning that feels like summer camp. We believe in play-based activities, hands-on exploration, and weekly themes that keep things fresh and fun while also helping our kids feel prepared for the upcoming school year.

Position Overview: We’re looking for a certified, caring, and energetic Summer School Teacher to bring this vision to life. You’ll lead a small group of kids (elementary age) through a mix of academic curriculum—some provided, some collaboratively planned with parents—and creative, play-based activities that fit weekly camp-style themes.

Parents want to be actively involved in shaping the academic material, so you’ll work closely with them to adapt and plan lessons that meet the group’s needs. Parent volunteers will occasionally be present to support activities and help foster a community atmosphere. Your role includes assessing each child’s progress, providing personalized instruction, and supporting social-emotional growth, along with ensuring any required medical accommodations are followed.

    What You’ll Do:

Deliver and adapt provided academic curriculum, collaborating with parents on lesson planning

Plan and lead engaging, play-based activities aligned with weekly camp themes (science, art, nature, and more)

Assess students’ academic strengths and areas for growth to help prepare them for the upcoming school year

Provide personalized instruction and social-emotional support to ensure every child’s success and well-being

Support and implement medical accommodations with fidelity

Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

Communicate regularly with parents about plans, progress, and any adjustments

Manage basic daily logistics such as set-up, clean-up, and snack times

    Who You Are:

Experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, childcare, etc.)

Willing and able to provide personalized instruction and support for each child

Skilled at planning fun, hands-on activities for kids

Comfortable with informal assessment and giving feedback to help kids get ready for school

Willing and able to support medical accommodations as required

    Passionate about child-led, play-based learning

    Creative, flexible, and enthusiastic

    Good communicator and collaborator

    Responsible and reliable

    CPR/First Aid certification preferred

    Background check required

    What We Offer:

    Collaborative, family-friendly atmosphere

    Academic curriculum provided

Space for your creativity in planning activities

Flexible hours (part-time or full-time available)

    Small class size

A chance to make a real difference in kids’ summer experiences
