Job Description

Upscale, independent jeweler in downtown Portsmouth seeking part- to full-time (3-4 days/week, plus additional hours seasonally) sales support staff to help carry out daily store operations and learn about the jewelry industry and professional sales from our experienced team. No experience is required. Positive attitude and willingness to work a must! Training will be provided.

Candidates should be friendly, outgoing, and task-oriented. You must possess integrity, enthusiasm, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to be a team-player. Your primarily role is to learn from and support the top salespeople in our store. Job duties are akin to an administrative assistant of sorts, but you will be working with multiple salespeople and our goldsmith.

Specific Job Duties Include:

• Support the top salespeople through a sale, selecting stock or getting stock requested by the salesperson keeping the salesperson with the customer.

• Customer promotion, mailings and customer management.

• Handle the Point of Sale, the cash and call for credit approval if needed.

• Set up the jewelry each morning and pull pieces from the cases at night.

• Notify customers of job estimates and when orders are ready for pick up.

• Return unsold stock to the displays.

• Answer the telephone.

• Clean store and stock.

• Tag jewelry and help with inventory management.

• Handle the incoming and outgoing mail.

• Prepare packages for shipping to customers and vendors.
