    Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is looking for  a Site Engineer to train and assist the planners on the use of the software and helps resolve software functionality issues as they occur

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    The Site Engineer resides day-to-day with the Government functional managers and planners and provides two major support roles to the planners; one is software capability expertise, and the other is first line technical support. The Site Engineer trains and assists the planners on the use of the software and helps resolve software functionality issues as they occur. In addition, the Site Engineer assists the Government, and the Government’s IT maintainer with the install, integration and operationalization of the software into the MPAS environment(s). The Site Engineer also works with the Government, and the Government’s IT maintainer to resolve any technical issues with the software, software environment, permissions, data, etc.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Site Engineer liaison support shall occur during normal duty hours (0700-1600, Monday-Friday) within USSTRATCOM, or assigned location, and provide responsive, knowledgeable, on-site services to assist the Government with troubleshooting, integration, and use of the APS software. In addition, site engineer support may be required 24/7 for planner support.
    • Establish, maintain and expand strong customer relationships via face to face meetings, informal tag-ups, and open communication.
    • Provide on-site technical troubleshooting/support to analyze, identify and resolve problems relating to the software, data, environment, permissions, etc. Problems can range from simple to large-scale and technically complex.
    • Develop and/or use troubleshooting, monitoring and reporting tools to analyze the root cause of serious and impactful technical issues and assist the Government and Government’s IT maintainer in building stable and sustainable solutions and improvements.
    • Understand the various inputs to, and outputs from, the application(s) to ensure fully integrated and coordinated problem resolution.
    • Provide software maintenance during routine, emergency, and USSTRATCOM exercise periods including 24-hour support as dictated by mission needs. In addition, this may require the position to have a ‘backup” and provide support during real-time operational and exercise events, as required.
    • Work side by side with the Government, Government’s IT maintainer, other Contractors and the software developers to uncover and diagnose issues quickly and efficiently.
    • Provide training, application and testing assistance to planners.
    • Escalate issues to the appropriate source to resolve any software problems that the Site Engineer can’t resolve.
    • Drive and improve the whole lifecycle of operational readiness – from inception and design through deployment, operation and refinement.
    • Work with both the software team and the Government to ensure issues, desired outcomes, etc. are understood by all involved. Assist the Government with defining their desired outcome, such as identifying and documenting software change requests (SCRs) – both errors and enhancements, user stories, etc.
    • Advise and assist the Government with executing USSTRATCOM processes for deploying application software to include requesting permissions, requesting applications loaded onto MPAS environment, and providing deployment instructions. This may include developing tools, recommending operational improvements, and providing automated solutions that enable self-service configuration changes, speed deployments, and improve monitoring in support of mission-critical customer-facing applications and environments

     

     

    Required Skills

    • TOP-SECRET CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED, MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (SCI), NUCLEAR COMMAND AND CONTROL (NC2) AND SPECIAL ACCESS PROGRAM (SAP) ACCESS.

    • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

      • Hands-on experience working with tools and technologies in, at a minimum, two of the following areas: software development, configuration control, testing, security, automation, containerization, orchestration, cloud services, open source technologies.

      PREFERRED:

      • Recent experience in nuclear planning and analysis, strongly desired

       

      EDUCATION REQUIRED:

      • BS degree in a technical discipline with recent experience in system and software integration, test, requirements analysis and definition, software deployment and troubleshooting
      • 8+ years of planning experience will also be accepted in lieu of a BS degree.
