    Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is seeking an Engineering Technician II to provide semi-professional technical support on our NAVAIR contract in Norfolk, VA.

    The Engineering Technician will work in such areas as design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. These technicians are required to have some practical knowledge of seamanship. Included are workers who prepare evaluation and/or modification of machinery and equipment.

    Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Constructing components, sub-units, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;
    • Applies techniques, principles, and precedents to modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, avionics, mechanical equipment.
    • Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;
    • Plan and perform maintenance specifications, policies, standards and procedures as required by supervisor
    • Provide support to the Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations Division both on the east and west coast.
    • Responsibilities to include boat operations, maintenance on both mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Shipboard support to include knowledge of launching and recovery of small boats.
    • Applicant must be able to perform said duties with minimal supervision.
    • Position will be a part of an established Marine Operations division that supports multiple other systems on a variety of projects nationwide.
    • Candidate can expect to be trained to participate in functions beyond normal operations.

    This pay for this position is covered by the Service Contract Act. New employees will start at $21.12 per hour, with opportunities for overtime

    Required Skills

    Qualified candidates will have the following experience and qualifications:

    • High School diploma or GED is required. Trade school training and/or professional certification is a plus.
    • Boater Safety Course certification is desired. Mercury Marine Inboard/Outboard Certification is a plus.
    • 2+ years general mechanical and boat operations experience is required
    • General knowledge of boat operations, mechanical, and electrical operation systems is required.
    • Experience with driving pickup trucks with trailers on the road and in enclosed or limited spaces is required.
    • Valid US passport and state driver’s license is required. CDL is a plus.
    • Willingness and ability to travel 40-50% of the year, from 1-6 weeks at a time, is required.
    • Current DoD Secret clearance is required.
