    Summit Technologies, Inc. has a position for a Data Center Hardware Technician. In this position, you will lead a small team in planning, coordinating and carrying out the implementation and support of computer hardware within a data center. This includes facility management responsibilities which comprise of understanding data center infrastructure items such as computer hardware, electrical power, heating, cooling, redundancy, availability, disaster recovery, fire suppression, access control, physical security and facility support.

    You must be a US Citizen with a DoD Secret clearance. This on-site position is in Wiesbaden, Germany.

    Responsibilities include:

    • IT Hardware Installation, Integration, and Configuration (including servers and storage devices).
    • Physically installing IT hardware including standalone servers, blade servers and server enclosures and other associated hardware.
    • Physically install and cable storage hardware to include Enterprise Arrays, Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, storage switching, data replication devices, individual hard-drives, Host Bus Adapters (HBA) and other associated hardware.
    • Configure storage hardware to include Enterprise Arrays, NAS devices, storage switching, data replication devices, individual hard-drives, and HBA and other associated/similar hardware
    • Configure hardware including Cryptographic Encryption (Commercial/Government) and Key-mat loading in accordance with manufacturer instruction/configuration documentation guidelines.
    • Perform independent verification and validation on baseline hardware
    • Provide touch labor support activities for all hardware located on the raised floor including cycling power on devices, verification of cabling, verification of power, re-cabling devices, re-terminating cabling, component replacement, device relocation, work-center configuration, workstation configurations, workstation deployments, and workstation cabling as required.
    • Perform turn-over of installed hardware to technical/operational staff once installation and configuration is completed.
    • Provide on-site hardware touch labor support, including duties such as: power-cycling servers, reseating switch cards, and replacing failed communications in coordination with the assigned system administrator to ensure the effort is completed successfully.
    • Assist with providing proper information for Command Cyber Readiness Inspection(s) (CCRI).
    • Participate in annual planning and provide input for Continuity of Operations (COOP).
    • Provide guidance and assist with inspections and audits.
    • Provide end user phone support
    • Perform de-installation tasks for IT hardware and associated components, including server and storage.
    • Prepare components for disposition using IT hardware provider instructions.
    • Relocate IT hardware to directed location for disposition actions or retrieval.
    • Assist with annual equipment inventory compliance and accountability review.
    • Provide Data Center logistical support.

    Education & Certification

    • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of technical experience or Associate degree and 14 years of technical experience.
    • Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD 8570, ADP IT - Level II certification

    Skills Requirements:

    • A total of 10 years of hardware experience in the IT industry.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in directing technical work on projects, managing technical teams.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in providing technical support to internal users in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing and debugging routing hardware, software or networking equipment problems.
    • Experience with installing and configuring Windows and UNIX servers.
    • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting blade server, and blade server enclosures.
    • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Enterprise Arrays, and Network Attached Storage.
    • Hands-on work experience in datacenter environments, DoD data centers a plus.
    • Experience with COOP planning and operations a plus.
    • Able to maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 25kg (55 lbs).

    • Strong written and verbal communications required.
    • This is an essential personnel position.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours.
    • Shift work may be required.
    • On Call Duties will be required.
