Summit Title is looking for an experienced Title Examiner. The ideal candidate will have 6 or more years of title examination experience as well as excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. The title examiner examines search packages of moderate to advanced complexity to determine the condition of title. They summarize pertinent details to determine any barriers that exist to the sale of a property and are highly detail and task oriented! Compensation: • Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 • Medical Insurance • Dental/Vision Insurance • 401k Plan • PTO/Sick Days Responsibilities: • Search and Examine title in accordance with company and underwriting procedures to determine the status of title or establish a chain of title • Verify the accuracy and completeness of land-related documents • Analyze deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, and other applicable instruments • Prepare reports describing any title encumbrances encountered during searching activities, and outline actions to clear title • Prepare an accurate and comprehensive title commitment in accordance with company examination and policy procedures • Process incoming orders and searches upon request • Review and process title clearance requests, Indemnities, Policies, and corrections. • Update commitments/search products through closing • Respond to various requests from company employees, affiliates/attorneys, lenders, and the general public regarding the status of legal title and insurability of title • Maintain proper production levels and delivery standards daily • Assist in providing general training and support to other staff members • Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications: • A minimum of 6 years of experience examining title in Illinois is preferred • Experience examining title in other states including SC, MN, AL, and/or IN is desired • Knowledge of RamQuest ONE production software preferred • Knowledge of Title point and Datatrace • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 • Understanding of basic underwriting procedures and real property law • Ability to review surveys to ensure compliance with underwriter guidelines and to ensure the proper exceptions are added to the title commitment and title policy • Complete understanding of terminology and documents related to the title search, title chain, and property ownership • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers and organizations; exceptional follow-up skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to take initiative when making decisions and problem-solving • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple simultaneous tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion • Must be learning-based and open to accepting new challenges/responsibilities in our quickly-growing organization This is a full-time, in-office position in our Summit Title office in Naperville, IL!
