Job Description
OVERVIEW
This role in the Corporate Benefits team handles all aspects of the leave and absence programs for a business unit within Sun Chemical of 500 employees from initiation through closure, including FMLA, disability, worker’s compensation, parental leave, and military leave. Ensures processes are administered consistently in accordance with Company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and in compliance with HIPAA, privacy guidelines and federal and state employment laws.
Acts as liaison and is responsible for all communications between the employee, the employee’s manager, Human Resources, payroll, and external benefit/insurance vendors for leave requests, on-going status, return to work, and accommodations as needed.
Prepares reports and statistical information regarding leave of absence utilization, hours, paid benefits, duration, etc. References HRIS, payroll, and leave tracking systems for information and updates.
Leave Administration duties comprise 75% of the role.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Minimum 3 years hands on leave administration experience. Strong knowledge of general leave policies, federal and state leave laws, sickness and accident programs, short term disability, long term disability, and FMLA.
At least 5-8 years working in a HR Benefits or Shared Services environment with a corporate employer, insurance carrier, or outsourcing company in benefits administration, analysis, and vendor management.
COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
BS degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Finance or a related discipline. Strong experience in benefits administration/analysis in lieu of education will be considered. Current work with SAP SuccessFactors or similar systems as Sun Chemical expands HRIS capabilities and reporting throughout the organization is a definite plus.
Additionally:
· Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
· Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and accuracy.
· Must be well organized, have ability to prioritize accordingly, and able to handle high volume of calls and paperwork.
· Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, and working knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors and ADP Payroll is strongly preferred.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
