    POSITION DESCRIPTION

     

    The PNW Business Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operations and administrative details of the PNW regional office.   This includes Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Profitability and Growth for projects within the region, and focused growth within our core strategic service lines.

     

    POSITION ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

     

    OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATION

    • Participate with senior management in the development of the Resource Center business plan

    • Responsible for overall operations and administrative details of a regional office, including yearly planning and budgeting

    • Manage the overall operations of local diving services and preventative booming operations within the PNW. This includes the booming operations based out of Seattle/Tacoma, Anacortes and Port Angeles

    • Responsible for executing all aspects of the business plan, including measurable results in each of the following areas: Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Profitability and Growth

    • Overall responsibility for Resource Center health and safety program and accident prevention, including personally conducting job site safety assessments on a monthly basis

    • Overall responsibility for regulatory compliance of resource center including health, safety and DOT compliance

    • Oversees the estimating and proposal process for the Resource Center while working closely with the Operations Manager, Account Managers and Business Development group to close opportunities

    • Responsible for Program Manager assignments for “Key Accounts” and the overall delivery of quality services to client

    • Manages the allocation of resources to assure overall Quality work performed and Customer

    • Manages the administration process of the Resource Drives billings and collections on an ongoing basis and resolves any related issues

    • Manages performance and ongoing career development of direct report managers (Environmental Operations Manager, North Sound Supervisor, PNW Office Administrator)

    • Works with Human Resources to recommend hiring activities relating to direct report managers

    • Responsible to represent and be a visible ambassador of the organization within the business and local community in a positive Participate in appropriate business trade organizations and community activities.

    • Support strategic service line projects within region

    • Manage and direct work of office support staff related to the PNW region and its operations (PNW Office Administrator, Billing Specialist)

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & CLIENT MANAGEMENT

    • Identify and develop opportunities to market services to both new and existing clients

    • Interact and maintain relationships with existing clients

    • Prepare and submit reports, proposals and job estimates

    • Participate in the preparation of sales, business, capture and development plans

    • Establish and maintain “Key Accounts” relationships with prospective companies

    • Coordinate with other divisions/departments/regions in the development of competitive proposals

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    EDUCATION

    • AA Degree and or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
    • Additional business management education or professional training strongly preferred

     

    EXPERIENCE

    • Ten + years’ experience in the maritime, environmental, diving and construction services market
    • Experience identifying/preparing/selling deals from $500K-$10M

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

    • At least five years of direct management experience
    • Must be multi-task oriented and have strong supervisory, time management, organizational, and problem solving skills and the ability to understand and analyze components of jobs costs, profit and loss
    • Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management
    • Ability to think and plan strategically as a business
    • Ability to assemble and develop a strong leadership team (As it relates to your direct reports listed above)
    • Ability to serve as an outside representative of the company and see business development as a core function
    • Ability to work in a wide range of environments including those involving hazardous conditions and which may require lifting or exerting force exceeding 50
    • Must have  licenses  as  required  by  position,  in  good  standing  and  meet  applicable  GDS  and  DOT  driving requirements to operate company vehicles and equipment (documentation is required).
    • Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when
    • Ability to travel overnight as required by business
    • Must participate in continuing education classes and successfully complete occupational safety training courses as
    • Knowledge of standard dive practices and regulations
    • Advanced client management skills
    • Advanced organizational skills
    • Excellent Microsoft Suite skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Master’s degree in agriculture or related field required.
    • Demonstrated ability in the concepts, principles, methods and techniques of seed/agricultural sector development activities, including training, capacity building, agribusiness development extension services and the technical activities mentioned above for seed and GAP application and use
    • Demonstrated experience in organizing support for GAP training in seed multiplication and marketing support, co-investment with seed companies effectively applying conservation and soil fertility management GAP.
    • Demonstrated skills in effectively collaborating with host governments, regional institutions, donors, UN agencies, other Dutch Government and development partner projects, local organizations, private companies and other partners.
    • Ability to successfully manage and develop staff as demonstrated by past experience.
    • Ability to manage partners, sub-contracts and grant making programs with all required reporting requirements
    • Ability to perform internal control functions to manage day-to-day operations of the project
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in small audience and large audience settings.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
    • Ability to work and travel in South Sudan and East and Southern Africa.
