    Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. is the largest diving contractor on the West Coast, based out of Seattle, WA, a leading provider of marine construction and infrastructure support services in the United States, and an internationally recognized casualty responder.

     

    We are currently seeking an experienced DECKHAND/OPERATOR to join our PRE-BOOMING TEAM IN PORT ANGELES. The Deckhand/Operator will be responsible for safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant deckhand/operator duties primarily aboard a 21ft outboard powered work skiff.  This is a full-time, entry-level position with a callout schedule that is varied, unpredictable and includes significant night-shift work.

     

    APPLICANTS MUST HAVE MARITIME EXPERIENCE.

     

    APPLICANTS MUST RESIDE WITHIN 15 MILES OF PORT ANGELES.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Assist with the towing, deploying, and stowing of oil containment boom.
    • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring and line- handling in all weather conditions
    • Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines
    • Perform lookout duties while underway - to include watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise
    • Keep vessel and equipment maintained by performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties
    • Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required
    • Perform minor engineering repairs and engineering rounds as directed
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
    • Carry out and complete assigned tasks within legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies
    • Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
    • Drive company vehicles as needed

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION

    High school diploma or equivalent required

     

    EXPERIENCE

    MARITIME EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

    • Basic Microsoft Office Suite proficiency

    • Passport and TWIC card

    • HAZWOPER, H2S, Safe Gulf or Rig Pass, HUET or BOISET, API Rigging, 10hr OSHA certification

    • Current GDS mandatory training and other required programs

     

     

    PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to work any day of the week both night and day

    • Available for after-hours emergency response

    • Ability to travel to project sites and work approximately 30 days on at a time

    • Ability to complete pre-employment drug test and participate in random drug and alcohol testing program

    • Ability to successfully complete a background check

    • Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 70lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift

    • Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive hand use

    • Ability to meet DOT, ADCI, USCG, or HAZMAT physical & additional fitness ability requirements for the position

  • Qualifications

     

    Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of experience.  Basic PLC/CNC knowledge is a plus.  Qualified candidates must also achieve a passing score on required assessments.  The ability to read to read tape measures and efficiently operate all other required measuring devices is also required.  Candidates best suited for this role will have a proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
