General Summary
The Rainbow Gymnastics department leader oversees a team of 6-8 part time gymnastics coaches, and manages all operations of weekly, school-age recreational gymnastics classes. We are looking for a passionate, energetic and dedicated full-time director who is eager to learn and work together as a member of a team to help maximize the potential of our coaches and gymnasts.
Essential Job Functions
Coaches recreational gymnastics
Recruits, selects, hires and supervises part-time gymnastics coaches
Makes schedule for employees (days and times), turns in all info to payroll manager
Develops and implements effective recreational gymnastics lesson plans
Manages semi-annual parent showcase, “Rainbow Meet”
Communicates clearly with employees and customers via email, phone & in person
Assists in proofing marketing materials to ensure consistency with programming
Creates & maintains high quality work environment so staff are motivated to perform at their highest level
Promotes Sun Country and its programs
Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leaders and Directors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of customer service best practices
Knowledge of fundamentals for appropriate beginner-to-intermediate level gymnastics skill progressions
Knowledge of management basics including staff recruitment, selection, training and performance management
Skill in speaking, reading comprehension and active listening in the English language
Skill in complex problem solving, evaluation of options and implementation of solutions
Skill in coaching, training and evaluating employee performance
Skill in operating office and technological equipment and software, including cloud-based database systems and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to spot basic gymnastics skills and events at a recreational level
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to complete multiple tasks at once
Ability to organize daily activities and to work as a team player
Education, Experience and Certification
Required:
Gymnastics coaching experience
Professional use of Microsoft Windows and Office applications
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, childcare or related fields
Supervisory management experience
Physical Requirements
Seeing: Must be able to see well enough to read from a computer screen and written reports, and to see a child’s body position in the gym from a distance of 50 ft.
Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and employees in a loud gym setting
Hand Function: Must be able to write, type and use technological office equipment
Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to pick up files and access drawers near to the floor
Standing/Walking: Must be able to move about the facility and walk at a fast pace for up to 1 minute over varying levels of gym flooring in an emergency
Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Working Conditions
Normal working conditions absent extreme factors. Classes are located inside our multi-sport facility, and is a fast-pace, dynamic work environment. Sun Country is open 7 days per week, excluding major holidays, and provides customer service anytime business is open.
