    Job Description

     SunSystem Technology is seeking an Operations Controller for full-time employment.  The proposed starting date and time is immediate.  The Operations Controller will directly report to the CFO and play an integral role in overseeing financial performance of certain operating departments.  Key duties include, but not limited to, preparing monthly, quarterly, and ongoing budgeting and financial close packages, transactional recording, and other standard accounting duties.  The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with strong GAAP knowledge and intellectual curiosity regarding ways to improve existing processes and conventions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage and oversee the financial performance of the department by performing the following duties:
    • Budget and forecast based on existing work and new customer sales
    • Make recommendations and analysis on cash flow
    • Track project profitability
    • Review financial performance (BvA) with operations leadership
    • Close monthly financials
    • Manage GL accounts
    • Create best practices in the Salesforce ERP for improved operational/financial efficiency
    • Accrue expenses/costs on a timely basis
    • Oversee timely billing and collection
    • Review and approve payroll on a bi-weekly basis
    • Accrue payroll each month end for GAAP financial reporting
    • Prepare and manage capital expenditure budgeted needs
    • Assist with managing sales tax tracking and return prep
    • Analyze work orders by customer, work type, and regionality in order to prepare KPI dashboards in ERP
    • Ad hoc:  Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements as needed
    • Assist with completion of annual audits

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Proven working experience with 5+ years in Accounting/Finance management capacity
    • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases (Salesforce experience is a big plus)
    • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data (strong excel user – Excel, SQL, Power BI is a big plus) – vlookup, pivot tables, sumif, and other key formulas
    • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Proven track record directing and supervising teams of 3 or more staff/senior level accountants
    • Minimum BS degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 5 years minimum experience in a supervisory capacity
