JOB TITLE: Controller
POSITION REPORTING
This position is part of Sunday Cool-Finance Department reporting to the CEO. Given the high growth of the company, this managerial position is an opportunity for future advancement within the company.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm [40 hours/week]. Overtime may be required based on workload and production demands.
COMPENSATION
Our starting base salary is $85,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience
DIRECT REPORTS
The Controller will oversee the Finance and Administrative Department which includes the Senior Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Accounting Intern, Purchasing Manager, and HR/Office Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company. This position requires hands on experience within the framework of a small to medium size business. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles standards.
· Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
· Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
· Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
· Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
· Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
· Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
· Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
· Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
· Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
· Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
· Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
· Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff
· Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
· Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
· Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
· Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
· Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance
· Experience with financial reporting requirements
· Highly Proficient with Microsoft Excel
· Strong data entry skills with an emphasis on a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to accurately prioritize and work independently as well as part of a team.
· Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to multi-task and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
· Aptitude for learning new technologies quickly and efficiently.
· Knowledge of Inventory Management and Cost Accounting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
· Experience working within Salesforce and Accounting Seed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD & TERMINATION
During the first 90 days we will be training you specifically for the above position. Before the conclusion of your probationary period, we will meet with you to review and determine if this is a long term fit for both parties. Sunday Cool, LLC reserves the right to terminate employment of any employee at any time without notice and without payment in lieu of notice, subject to the laws of the State of Florida.
OVERTIME & PAYROLL:
We pay biweekly (Every other week) on Fridays. Pay is based on eighty standard hours per pay period and Sunday Cool has 26 pay periods/year.
