    The State of Wisconsin is looking for a Business Analyst/Consultant II.

    The Information Technology Department at the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the Agency’s business systems and automation requirements. The IT department manages infrastructure and software that supports the WHS

    Headquarters building, the State Archives Preservation Facility (SAPF), and twelve Historic Sites around the State. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer and works closely with IT team members, the Library Archives Museum Collections Division and its Digital Services program area, as well as a number of other departments in the organization to provide expertise

    and support for a variety of complex technical solutions.

    The IT Operations - Business Analyst II position analyzes, provides guidance, and helps to support specialized systems, software, and hardware or peripherals used across Divisions but supported by IT. This position maintains clear documents, guides, and inventories of the various software,

    hardware, and systems while regularly providing education to program area staff related to best

    practices and the use of supported applications or equipment. The Business Analyst also provides

    regular consultation and guidance related to scripting or automation of recurring tasks, digital

    workflows, and bulk image or audio capture.

    Responsibilities

    ? Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their digital service needs,

    challenges, and goals.

    ? Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable technical

    specifications for IT teams.

    ? Act as a liaison between business and IT, ensuring clear communication and

    fostering collaboration ensuring business requirements are met while IT

    processes, standards, and policies are strictly adhered to

    ? Create documentation of existing equipment and software to assist in formulation

    of crosswalk to future services and support models

    ? Provide consultation on optimal use of resources and offer guidance related to the

    automation of certain workflows used to process digital images and audio

    ? Act as a primary support resource for a catalog of IT services and applications

    used by the Society, including efforts to establish digital asset management

    participating regularly in project and implementation meetings

    ? 4 years of relevant professional experience

    ? Ability to communicate effectively and translate complicated technical topics

    with a non-IT audience

    ? Experience with technical planning, project communication, and change

    management processes

    ? Experience supporting and analyzing various digital workflows, IT processes,

    computer types, peripherals, and operating systems

    ? Experience with scripting languages and automation tools

    ? Basic understanding of storage technologies and storage arrays

    ? Experience working within a collaborative team environment and

    independently

    ? Exceptional ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a high-pressure

    environment

    ? Exceptional customer service orientation

    Additional Qualifications:

    ? Experience supporting specialized digital imaging equipment and peripherals

    ? Experience creating and maintaining hardware or software inventories, user

    guides, and maintenance schedules

    ? Experience with digital workflows related to bulk imaging and audio capture

    ? Experience leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

    ? Experience with virtualization technologies and concepts

    ? Experience with image and audio capture technologies

     

    Top skills and years of experience: 4+ years of relevant professional experience in the following:

    • Ability to communicate effectively and translate complicated technical topics with a non-IT audience

    • Experience with technical planning, project communication, and change management processes

    • Experience supporting and analyzing various digital workflows, IT processes, computer types, peripherals, and operating systems

    Interview Process: Teams interview with camera & audio on.

    Duration: 6/30/24 with possibility of renewal

    Onsite or Remote? Candidate must be a CURRENT WI resident. No relocation allowed. 3-days onsite, 2-days remote per week. Parking is available in public ramps nearby, but at a cost. This cost can be found on City of Madison webpage, or there is public transportation available. WHS will not pay for the cost of parking.
