SUMMARY: This position is the lead/focus for the system administration and support groups. As such, this staff member acts as the senior mentor and advisor for system maintenance and configuration and recommends new purchases.WORK AVAILABILITY: up to 40 hours, mostly weekdays and as neededSALARY RANGE: $25 - $35 DOE
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs system hardware setup and configuration and manages standard processes
Maintains, optimizes and manages operating system software on all devices—Windows OS: XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10; Apple OS X; Android; and iOS
Maintains, optimizes and manages network system, including routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, VOIP switches, VDS switches, CAT5 and fiber cables
Maintains and optimizes phone and telecom systems, including PBX and VDSL modems
Maintains and troubleshoots workstations, printers, scanners, monitors and television drops, etc.
Diagnoses and resolves computer virus-related issues
Trains IT support staff and end users when necessary
Designs, implements, keeps current and reports emerging security and/or technologies
Sets and follows inventory procedures
Communicates with vendors for product research and support
Purchases system and computer hardware and software as allowed by budgeting constraints
Creates and documents processes that utilize staff and technology to improve and increase productivity
Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts
Perform other essential duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer engineering or related field
Three-plus years of experience in IT systems management preferred
Must be experienced in managing routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, VOIP switches, VDSL switches, CAT5 and fiber cables
Must be extremely comfortable managing a Windows-based operating environment
Must be knowledgeable in using and maintaining Apple Mac OS X, Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Android and iOS platforms
A+ and CCNA certification helpful
Experience with server maintenance and management
Proficient with WordPress and Microsoft Office tools
Adaptable—thrives in a constantly changing work environment
Project management skills
Excellent communication skills with team and management
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must be organized, have knowledge of current industry practices and be comfortable learning new technology skills
