Job Title: Assistant to the Director of the Ranch

SUMMARY: Assist the Director of the Ranch in the daily operation of Sunrise Ranch ranching operations.
WORK AVAILABILITY: 32+ hours per week, flexible schedule required, including up to seven-day workweeks during the summer, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
SALARY RANGE: $17 - $20 DOE
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assume a leadership and supervisory role on the Ranch Team.
Work with animals in our operation to include daily care: feeding, watering, providing minerals and practicing stress-free handling.
Move cattle, sheep, and chickens in accordance with holistic management practices. Set up paddocks with portable electric fencing.
Assist with sorting of animals to tag, castrate, vaccinate and the like.
Collect and wash eggs daily.
Work on farm or Ranch structures, such as buildings, fences (electric single-line, electric portable, and barbed-wire) and roads, repairing and maintaining as needed.
Work with, set up, and move wheel-line and hand-set irrigation to properly water the pastures.
Assist the Director of the Ranch with various tasks including but not limited to: animal care/ record keeping, web store maintenance, customer pick-ups/ deliveries, beef/lamb inventory, and project planning.
Perform other essential duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A background in animal husbandry
Cattle/sheep/chicken/llama/alpaca/horse/dog experience
Pasture experience (holistic-management knowledge a plus)
Equipment and maintenance knowledge; mechanical and electrical aptitude
Fencing experience—barbed wire, cattle panels, electric, and portable electric-mesh fencing
Wheel-line and hand-set irrigation experience
Leadership and management experience
Solid communication and analytical skills
Self-starter and ability to work independently required
Strong attention to detail required
Reliability—show up on time and be flexible regarding days/hours worked
Ability to thrive in a constantly changing work environment
Ability to be an enthusiastic, positive and creative team member
CONDITIONS:

Physical Requirements – Must be able to stand, bend over, crouch down, climb fences and walk all day. Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
