Position Overview
Ironwood Construction is seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee full-scope commercial projects directly from the field. This key role ensures quality workmanship, strict adherence to schedules, rigorous enforcement of safety standards, and overall successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate forward-thinking, proactive planning, and a strong commitment to prioritizing both superior quality and timely completion of every project.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout with proactive, forward-thinking planning to anticipate and address challenges in advance.
Coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors to maintain seamless communication and collaboration.
Ensure all project milestones and deadlines are met on time and within budget through diligent schedule management and resource allocation.
Lead jobsite safety enforcement, conducting daily safety inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
Conduct comprehensive daily site reports, walkthroughs, and punch list management to track progress and quality.
Communicate clearly and professionally with all project stakeholders, fostering transparency and trust.
Recognize, document, and promptly escalate change orders and field issues for timely project manager coordination and resolution.
Oversee material deliveries, equipment logistics, and workforce productivity to optimize efficiency and avoid delays.
Represent Ironwood Construction with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence on every project.
Required Qualifications
2+ years as a Commercial Superintendent
3+ years of overall commercial construction experience
Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems and codes
Ability to read blueprints and contract documents from napkin sketch to final drawings
Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Buildertrend, and Microsoft Office preferred.
OSHA 30 certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
Willingness to relocate or reside within 30 miles of Logan, UT
Must pass background check, MVR check, and drug screen

Physical Requirements
The role of a Commercial Construction Superintendent is physically demanding and requires the ability to perform essential duties on active construction sites for extended periods. Candidates must meet the following physical requirements, which include but are not limited to:
Ability to walk, stand, and navigate uneven terrain, gravel, mud, or partially constructed surfaces for 8–12 hours per day.
Frequent stairs and ladder climbing on multi-level or elevated job sites.
Ability to enter and exit trenches, crawl spaces, and confined areas as required for inspections or oversight.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials or tools weighing up to 80 lbs regularly.
Repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level during inspections, measuring, or guiding crews.
Ability to maintain physical stamina and focus while exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow, depending on the season.
Must have clear close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus—essential for blueprint reading, site monitoring, and safety awareness.
Good hearing to identify alarms, equipment signals, and verbal instructions in a noisy jobsite environment.
Regular use of hands and fingers to operate phones, tablets, power tools, and construction site equipment.
Must be able to write and type with accuracy and efficiency.
Ability to stay alert, organized, and make quick decisions in dynamic and sometimes hazardous environments.
Tolerance for exposure to dust, fumes, loud noise, vibration, and construction-related chemicals.
Must have the ability to commute to job sites daily. Occasional extended hours, evenings, or weekend work may be required based on project timelines.
