    Job Description: Traveling Construction Superintendent

    Department: Operations

    Reports To: Director of Construction / Project Manager

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Location: Nationwide travel; project-based field assignments

    Position Summary

    The Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for onsite leadership,

    coordination, and execution of industrial construction projects across the U.S. This position

    oversees all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within

    budget, and in accordance with contract documents and company standards.

    The Superintendent serves as the primary onsite representative for this company, managing subcontractors, enforcing safety and quality expectations, and

    maintaining direct communication with Project Management team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage day-to-day field operations, including workforce supervision, scheduling, and

    coordination of all onsite activities.

    • Interpret and execute construction plans, specifications, and submittals.

    • Coordinate closely with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure alignment between

    field execution and project objectives.

    • Develop and maintain short-term (3-week) look-ahead schedules and recovery plans as

    necessary.

    • Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation.

    • Enforce compliance with MBA’s safety policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety

    requirements.

    • Conduct regular quality inspections to verify compliance with drawings and

    specifications.

    • Direct and oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring productivity, quality, and

    adherence to scope.

    • Manage site logistics, equipment, and materials to support efficient project delivery.

    • Maintain an organized, clean, and professional job site at all times.

    • Identify potential risks or schedule impacts and proactively implement mitigation

    strategies.

    • Report daily progress and issues to the Project Manager and document field activities

    accurately.

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of construction field leadership experience as Superintendent or

    Foreman on industrial or commercial projects.

    • Demonstrated experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) or structural

    steel erection.

    • Proven ability to read and interpret structural, civil, and MEP drawings and

    specifications.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general scheduling software.

    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

    • Ability to travel extensively and remain onsite for extended durations.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods during 10-hour workdays.

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

    • Ability to work in outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures, uneven terrain,

    and construction environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in industrial environments such as renewable energy, manufacturing, or

    utility infrastructure.

    • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training.

    • Experience managing remote project sites or multi-state crews.

    Work Environment

    This position is project-based and requires frequent travel to remote job sites across the

    continental United States. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves exposure to

    typical construction site conditions. Lodging and per diem are provided per company policy.
