Position Summary
Tradesmithe Inc. is seeking experienced Traveling Superintendents and Traveling Carpenters to support commercial and retail construction projects throughout the Midwest. Projects include remodels, expansions, and tenant improvements for major national clients.
Superintendents are responsible for managing daily jobsite operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining schedules, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Traveling Carpenters support field operations through hands-on carpentry work and jobsite execution.
All candidates must be local to the Chicago area and willing to travel for project assignments.

Project scopes may include:
Small-scale remodels
Restroom and breakroom renovations
Store expansions
Tenant improvements
Interior renovations and upgrades
Key Responsibilities – Superintendent
Manage daily field operations on commercial and retail construction projects.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and trades.
Maintain project schedules and communicate progress with project management teams.
Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Manage change orders and field adjustments.
Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies.
Maintain quality control and jobsite organization.
Complete daily reports and project documentation.
Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with local codes.
Lead jobsite meetings and maintain professional communication with clients and stakeholders.
Superintendents must have prior carpentry experience.
Key Responsibilities – Traveling Carpenter
Perform finish carpentry, metal framing, drywall installation, and general carpentry tasks.
Assist with remodel and expansion work.
Read and interpret blueprints and layouts.
Work closely with Superintendent and project team to maintain schedule.
Maintain jobsite safety and cleanliness.
Assist with punch list completion and final finishes.
Required Qualifications
Experience in commercial construction or retail construction projects required.
Remodel and expansion project experience preferred.
Experience managing or supporting change orders.
Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and specifications.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends when required.
Candidates must be local to Chicago, IL.

Travel & Work Schedule
Projects are travel-based throughout the Midwest including OH, MI, WI, and surrounding areas.
Flights arranged and paid in advance by the company.
Employees fly home every two weekends.
Company-paid hotel lodging provided.
Employees may bring a spouse or significant other to the project location (company-paid flights included).
Company vehicle or rental car provided during assignments.
Target Salary:
Superintendents: 100-150k (Based on Experience Level)
Carpenters: 80-120k (Based on Experience Level)
