    Position Summary

    The Superintendent is the field leader responsible for planning and executing daily site operations. This person directs the work in the field, coordinates subcontractors, manages self-perform labor activities, orders and stages materials, maintains site readiness, and keeps production moving safely and efficiently. Superintendents are the eyes on the project and play a major role in how the company performs in front of clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.

    This role requires someone who can run the field with authority, communicate well, solve problems in real time, and keep work progressing in the right sequence and within budget expectations.

     

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead daily field operations on assigned public works construction projects
    • Study drawings, specifications, phasing requirements, and field conditions in detail
    • Plan site execution for self-performed and subcontracted scopes of work
    • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor readiness to maintain workflow
    • Keep the project site ready for each trade in the proper sequence and at the right time
    • Draft RFIs for Project Manager review when field conditions or design clarification is needed
    • Maintain accurate daily timesheets and daily project reports
    • Conduct weekly safety meetings and complete associated reporting
    • Keep as-built drawings current and coordinate updates with office support teams
    • Coordinate temporary site needs such as trailers, utilities, fencing, communications, and other startup logistics
    • Review near-term priorities and participate in weekly office and owner-facing project meetings
    • Help prepare two-week lookaheads, pending issue logs, and other field-driven planning tools
    • Confirm progress percentages for monthly billing with inspectors or relevant project stakeholders
    • Coordinate field progress photos and support documentation tied to pay requests
    • Monitor self-performed work for productivity, sequencing, and budget discipline
    • Represent the company professionally in the field with clients, inspectors, and partners

    What the Company Is Looking For

    • 2–3+ years of Superintendent or field leadership experience in construction; more experience is welcomed
    • No degree required
    • Public works field experience strongly preferred
    • Water, stormwater, utility, rehabilitation, or infrastructure project background is highly preferred
    • Able to lead crews, coordinate subs, and keep work moving safely and efficiently
    • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability in the field
    • Practical communicator who works well with Project Managers, owners, inspectors, and field labor
    • Comfortable with documentation, reporting, and weekly planning cadence
    • Strong attitude and willingness to be part of the team long term
    • Preferred Experience
    • Experience with union labor environments
    • Experience leading self-performed scopes
    • Familiarity with public agency processes, inspections, and documentation expectations
    • Field execution experience on Southern California public works jobs

    Compensation / Structure

    This is a field-based role. Superintendents may be union or non-union depending on background and fit. Compensation can include hourly pay with overtime as applicable, and the company is open to structuring vehicle-related support around the right candidate’s current package, including gas card, mileage support, or in some cases a company vehicle arrangement.
