    Position: Superintendent of Schools
    District: Holdingford Public Schools
    Location: Holdingford, Minnesota
    Reports To: Holdingford School Board
    Supervises: District Administrators, Principals, and Central Office Staff
    Contract Length: 260 days (12-month contract)

    Position Purpose

    The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of Holdingford Public Schools and provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight to ensure the success of all students, staff, and district programs. The Superintendent works collaboratively with the School Board, staff, families, and the community to advance the district's mission and educational priorities. The role includes responsibility for academic excellence, fiscal stewardship, operational effectiveness, and maintaining strong community relationships.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Leadership and Vision

    • Serve as the educational leader of the district by establishing and communicating a clear vision for student success.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability aligned with district goals.
    • Guide strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts that support student achievement and organizational effectiveness.

    Governance and Collaboration with the School Board

    • Work in partnership with the Holdingford School Board to implement board policies and achieve district goals.
    • Provide timely reports, recommendations, and data to support informed board decision-making.
    • Support effective governance practices and maintain a strong working relationship between the administration and board.

    Instructional and Academic Leadership

    • Promote high-quality instructional practices that support improved student outcomes.
    • Ensure curriculum, assessment, and instructional programs align with Minnesota academic standards and district priorities.
    • Monitor student performance data and lead efforts to address achievement gaps and strengthen learning outcomes.

    Financial and Operational Leadership

    • Develop and manage a balanced district budget that reflects the priorities of the board and community.
    • Ensure transparent and responsible stewardship of district resources.
    • Oversee district operations including facilities, transportation, food service, and technology.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and sound financial practices.

    Human Capital and Staff Development

    • Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality administrators, teachers, and support staff.
    • Support professional development and leadership growth throughout the organization.
    • Ensure fair and effective evaluation systems aligned with district expectations.

    Community Engagement and Communication

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
    • Serve as a visible and accessible leader within the Holdingford community.
    • Communicate district priorities, initiatives, and outcomes clearly through multiple communication channels.

    Equity and Student Opportunity

    • Promote equitable access to learning opportunities for all students.
    • Support inclusive educational practices that meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Work to remove barriers that may impact student success and well-being.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Valid Minnesota Superintendent licensure or eligibility for licensure through PELSB
    • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
    • Demonstrated leadership experience in education such as Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal, or District Administrator
    • Strong experience in organizational leadership, communication, and strategic planning
    • Demonstrated fiscal management and budget oversight experience

    Preferred

    • Doctorate in Educational Leadership or related field
    • Experience working in rural or small-community school districts
    • Knowledge of Minnesota school finance, governance, and education policy

    Working Conditions

    • Work occurs in district offices, school buildings, and community settings
    • Evening meetings and community events are regularly required
    • Occasional travel for professional development and state education meetings

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary Range: $132,000 – $150,000 , depending on qualifications and experience

    Evaluation

    Performance will be evaluated annually by the Holdingford School Board in accordance with district policy and established evaluation procedures for the Superintendent position.
