    Court Policy Analyst

    THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED BENEFIT ELIGIBLE POSITION (DURATION: 3 YEARS, CONTINGENT UPON ANNUAL APPROVAL BY GRANT AGENCY)

    SALARY GRADE 20: $55,487.00

    The Superior Court of Fulton County, Division of Planning and Development, is seeking an individual with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, who thrives on identifying solutions to business problems. The Court Policy Analyst will also assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining a public communication internet presence and broad-based social media strategy.

    Job Summary:

    Assists in conducting research, technical assistance and policy coordination and makes recommendations on court procedures to provide technical and administrative assistance to judicial staff to improve the administration and operation of the court.

    Essential Duties:

    Writes, assembles and submits grant applications; researches funding sources and program opportunities; assists departments with grant activities; monitors and ensures compliance with all requirements for awarded grants.

    Performs basic research and providing recommendations based on findings, which may influence local or statewide court system policies and procedures.

    Analyzes data and determines necessity for work performed, applicability of work unit standards, workload, projections, deviations from standards and effectiveness of processes and procedures.

    Compiles and maintains statistical data and correspondence, composes and edits correspondence, researches data and provides direction to customers and other governmental entities as needed.

    Assists in conducting research and makes recommendations on court procedures to provide technical and administrative assistance to judicial staff of the courts, such as case assignment, fiscal policies, and jury administration.

    Assists in the maintenance of handbooks for court personnel on required and recommended uniform procedures as they relate to day to day court administration.

    Ensures records and documents are archived, purged, or destroyed according to records retention and destruction policies and rules.

    Researches professional literature, and attends training to stay current on national trends, best practices, new methods and procedures for the courts. Assists in preparation of information to on pending or passed legislation that affects the court.

    Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Requires knowledge of legal terminology related to area of assignment. Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations governing court procedures. Practices and procedures of the Fulton County Court System. General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.

    Requires skill in delivering high quality, customer-focused service. Organizing and prioritizing work. Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software to gather, organize, and present information. Entering data. Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports. Building sustainable working relationships with other county personnel, officials, and the public. Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and the public. Generating enthusiasm and support for program objectives. Developing and facilitating on-the-job training.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree required; (course work in business, public administration, criminal justice, law, or related area is preferred) and three or more years of legal or court-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Licensing Requirements:

    May require valid Georgia Driver's License.

    Physical Requirements:

    Work is typically performed in an office-like environment. May work in high conflict situations and with difficult, sometimes dangerous parties. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, walking, driving, bending, reaching, fingering, lifting, and carrying.

    Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
