What You’ll Do as a Supply Chain Specialist:
- Draft, refine, and maintain project-specific contract templates, ensuring flow-down of mandatory prime-contract clauses.
- Lead and/or support negotiations on high-exposure purchase orders and subcontracts, balancing commercial terms with risk mitigation.
- Serve as the first point of legal escalation, partnering with corporate counsel to resolve complex or disputed issues quickly.
- Deliver workshops on negotiation techniques, contract fundamentals, and terms & conditions for supply chain personnel.
- Develop enterprise-wide procurement templates and playbooks to drive consistency across districts.
- Act as liaison among project supply-chain managers, project managers, legal, risk, tax, and sponsors to keep contracts moving toward execution.
- Cultivate strategic supplier relationships and oversee vendor-specific template negotiations.
- Share legal and commercial updates during procurement staff meetings to keep teams aligned.
- Tackle escalated vendor or contract disputes, working hands-on to craft practical solutions.
- Stay informed on multiple active projects, stepping in rapidly when purchasing challenges arise.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives and take on other assignments as directed by leadership.
Qualifications & Prior Experience - Supply Chain Specialist:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline (or equivalent military/industry experience).
- Required: 5+ years of hands-on negotiation experience with sizeable contracts.
- Preferred: 3+ years in commercial/transactional law or contract management.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Proven strength in risk assessment, claims prevention, and dispute resolution.
- Strong leadership, coaching, relationship-building, and time-management skills.
- Readiness for occasional travel (25% or less; generally 3-4 days at a time, one time per month)
