JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Data Scientist, reporting to the VP of AI, to help us bootstrap multiple AI/ML initiatives in the tax automation space.  The ideal candidate will work with our extensive human curated datasets to discover, research, and productionize novel automation innovations.  This will involve applying extensive machine vision, natural language processing, and supervised learning approaches to create end state production models.  Given the nature of the tax business, a focus will be put on accuracy and elasticity/scalability of the final solution.  The candidate’s time will be focused on research while also helping to drive required data pipelining and ML-engineering efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Prototype, design, implement and test machine learning innovations applied to various business problems, with focus on affecting key KPIs

·       Work with engineering to architect and develop models that scale efficiently

·       Communicate results with both technical and non-technical audiences

·       Participate in group learning sessions across the team by reading papers, books, blogs, and interactive classes on cutting edge machine learning techniques

·       Be able to wear multiple hats and work in a startup-like atmosphere; be a part of design from innovation to production

·       Continuous improvement of skills by researching new techniques, methods, and software relevant to our problem space

QUALIFICATION

·       Bachelor degree in computer science or other quantitative discipline preferred

REQUIREMENTS

·       Proven interest in data science and analytics

·       Experience with Python and relevant machine learning libraries (sklearn, numpy, panadas, etc.)

·       Exposure and some hands on experience with machine learning approaches

·       Must be self-driven and able to work in a dynamic, face paced, startup-like environment while communicating results and working alongside peers remotely

·       No prior tax/finance knowledge required

NICE TO HAVE

·       AWS/Sagemaker experience

·       Experience in a relevant area of statistics, mathematics or machine learning

·       Examples of previous data science work, either via Kaggle, github, or past internships, school projects or work experience

·       Experience with deep learning for image or natural language processing
