Job Summary

We are seeking a Surface Grinder to join our team working in an air conditioned tool room. You'll create flat surfaced parts within +/- 0.0001" of the size specified. Our supervisors are relaxed and willing to teach if needed. If you have the skills and experience, you'll start higher in the range. If you've never seen someone doing surface grinding, see the video, fast forward or adjust the playback speed as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a surface grinder to achieve required finish to flat surfaces having several related dimensions
• Set up using blocking, aligning, and securing of irregular shaped work pieces, use magnetic chuck and/or sine plate where applicableSelects grinding wheel of shape and grade and dresses wheel to produce desired cutting action.
• Measures finished piece to verify conformance to specifications using fixed gauges, micrometers, calipers, optical measuring devices, and surface gauges.
• Coordinate activities with shop personnel to resolve tooling problems and needs.
• Design, modify or make special tools according to specifications or tooling requirements as needed.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Grinder or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Familiarity with CNC machines and other machining tools is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
