SUMMARY:

We're looking for a TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER to join our team. As a Technical Project Manager, you'll be responsible for strategic project execution here at Surfline Wavetrak. You'll have strong technical project management skills and have a proven track record of working as a liaison between multiple teams, building relationships cross functionally, and holding others accountable while still continuing to push projects forward. You will work to assure that projects have solid plans that produce predictable outcomes, avoid bottlenecks and allow for quick answers to questions around the status and health of projects and sprints. You will be asked to support ad-hoc initiatives, so taking on the planning and coordination of special projects like security audits or software rollouts should be in your wheelhouse. You will also have a larger impact across all teams serving as a coach helping in the development, adoption and overall effectiveness of agile team processes. We're after someone extremely proactive, able to wear multiple hats and who can deliver through the collective efforts of a team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Work with Product Managers and Engineers to help strategize, organize, and prioritize engineering work
• Actively serve as on Technical Squads where you facilitate the project planning and coordination along side technical leads
• Facilitate project planning including stand-up meetings, retrospectives, reviews, and sprint planning
• Capture and record meeting notes and followthrough to ensure action items are clearly prioritized and completed promptly
• Ensure consistent best practices are being applied to all project processes
• Identify bottlenecks in processes and roadblocks to success and clear those roadblocks
• Coordinate critical outages serving as incident commander
• Deliver initiatives without major hiccups
• Drive the team to maintain maximum efficiency while helping to prioritize simplicity and organization
• Keep senior management and key stakeholders informed on key project initiatives and any issues
• Lead discussions and present on technical topics in internal tech talks
• Present technical concepts to a less-technical audience in company meetings and demos
• Manage special projects as assigned

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum of 3-4+ years in a technical project manager role or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of various developmental methodologies (Agile, Scrum, and Kanban)
• Experience with Agile team functioning and tools like Jira
• Exceptional organization skills and prioritization prowess
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and multi-task with speed and accuracy
• Understanding of work breakdown, dependencies, and responsibilities within a project
• Experience working directly with engineering and product teams
• Work well with and smoothly navigate multiple different personalities
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Methodical and incredibly detail oriented so that every action item is captured and resolved
• Demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies
• High level understanding of technical systems and terms such as APIs, Client/Server, Web/Native platforms
• Experience in a test driven culture
• Passion for supporting top notch products

YOU MAY ALSO HAVE:

• A background as a developer
• Experience with micro-service architecture
• Knowledge of AWS
• Understanding of content management systems
• Digital media or subscription business experience
• Passion for ocean-going activities
