Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Surgery Scheduler for our busy ENT practice to join our dynamic healthcare team. The Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgical procedures in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with surgeons' availability, operating room schedules, and patient needs
- Confirm patient appointments and provide pre-operative instructions, including any necessary paperwork and insurance information.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other medical professionals to facilitate smooth scheduling and operational workflows.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Verify patients’ insurance eligibility and obtain required pre-authorizations or referrals as necessary.
- Address patient inquiries regarding surgeries, including preparation, recovery, and insurance details effectively and compassionately.
- Manage any scheduling conflicts or changes, communicating with all relevant parties to minimize disruptions.
- Assist in maintaining surgery schedules and operating room efficiency, including tracking canceled or rescheduled procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office, surgical scheduling, or healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of surgical procedures is an advantage.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centric approach.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
