Job Summary
We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler to join our team. In this role, you will collect, manage, and report on the scheduling information. This is an important position that allows us to provide comprehensive and consistent patient care by coordinating medical and health services. The ideal candidate is empathetic, highly organized, and possesses excellent customer service skills.
Responsibilities
Coordinate surgery dates with the surgeon, patient, and surgical facility.
Schedule procedures such as Cataract surgery, Blepharoplasty
Ensure the correct procedure, eye, and lens type are documented. Confirm surgery center availability.
Explain the surgical process to patients, review surgery date and location, preoperative instructions, medications restrictions, answer patient questions about the procedure and timeline. Provide printed surgery packets.
Verify insurance coverage for surgery. Obtain prior authorizations when required, confirm patient financial responsibility. Coordinate with billing team for surgical estimates or deposits.
Ensure all required tests are completed. Argos measurements, make sure consent forms are signed, confirm lens selection plan.
Assist in the hiring, training, and management of new staff
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Previous experience as a Home Care Scheduler or in a similar position is preferred
Highly organized with attention to detail
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and other computer programs
Ability to multitask and prioritize projects
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ophthalmology experience preferred
