    The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling radiology procedures, including interventional and diagnostic imaging services. This role ensures efficient patient flow by collaborating with physicians, clinical staff, and patients to arrange procedures, verify requirements, and provide clear instructions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Coordinate procedure dates and times with physicians, radiologists, patients, and clinical staff.

    · Verify physician orders for accuracy and completeness before scheduling.

    · Obtain and confirm insurance pre-authorizations and referrals as required.

    · Communicate preparation instructions, procedure details, and appointment expectations to patients.

    · Ensure all required documentation (labs, imaging, history, consent forms) is received prior to the procedure.

    · Maintain and update scheduling systems and patient records accurately.

    · Reschedule appointments as necessary and manage cancellations efficiently.

    · Coordinate with other departments (e.g., nursing, anesthesia, labs) to ensure readiness for procedures.

    · Answer patient inquiries regarding procedures, scheduling, and preparation.

    · Monitor daily and future schedules to optimize workflow and minimize gaps or delays.

    · Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.

    Qualifications

    Required

    · High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or healthcare-related training preferred.

    · 1–3 years of scheduling experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in radiology or surgical services.

    · Knowledge of medical terminology, especially related to radiology procedures.

    Preferred

    · Experience with radiology scheduling software or PACS/RIS systems.

    · Certification in medical administration or healthcare support (e.g., CMAA).

    · Familiarity with interventional radiology workflows.

    · Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

    Working Conditions

    Office-based medical practice environment; work is performed onsite.
