Surgical Technologist

Essential HealthCare Solution is seeking full-time Surgical Technologists to perform approved Government health care services and quality of deliverables, and support the government with current and emergent requirements in support of the Main Operating Room. These activities will work in conjunction with other HCWs, professionals, and non-contract personnel.
Responsibilities:
Share knowledge by training students, new orienteers, and cross-trained experienced Surgical Technicians.
Complete daily evaluation reports as needed by the supervisor.
Perform the full spectrum of sterile techniques, setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings.
Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and sterilized after every procedure, including restocking surgical supplies.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by actively participating in the cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in environmental maintenance.
Prepare themselves before entering the operating room.
Prepare a patient for surgery; arrange Operating Room (OR) equipment, instruments, and supplies according to the preference of the surgeons and nurses.
Set up and test equipment and monitor devices before the scheduled surgical procedure.
Be conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the demands of surgeons.
Respond quickly and know various operating room procedures.
Function as an integral member of the healthcare team, working in coordination with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other authorized medical personnel to provide comprehensive support before, during, and after surgical procedures
Assist the surgeon with sponging or suctioning the operative site, prepare suture material, dispense appropriate fluids and drugs, and prepare specimens for subsequent pathologic analysis.
Clean, wash, decontaminate, and prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization; conduct sterilization by appropriate method; monitor and document sterilizer function; provide pick-up and delivery for Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to activities within the medical facility.
Count (with the circulating nurse) sponges, needles, and instruments used during surgery and assist in the clean-up of the operating room using standard MTF policies
Apply dressings and prepare the OR for the next case.
Participate in staff meetings and conferences as scheduled by the department representative of the worksite.
Have a working knowledge of the surgical scheduling system (S3) to be able to schedule surgeries and pull reports when needed.
Respond to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) situations, acute respiratory problems, and other emergencies as needed.
Education & Qualifications:
Degree: Certificate
Education: Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of MQS2-NG Task Order Sterile Supply Tech and Reg. Nurses Page 22 of 47 the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, or Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists, or operating room technicians.
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS Provider), Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.
Experience: Three years, with the last five years as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician. One year of combined experience in Orthopedic, Spine, Neurosurgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Da Vinci Surgery, or a variety of surgical experiences.
Work Schedule:
Hours of Performance: Monday through Friday, in accordance with the work schedule, including coverage on Federal Holidays and Government-designated training holidays.
Shifts: Contract employees will be required to work an 8-hour or 10-hour shift - 40 hours a week (excluding weekends), including coverage on Federal Holidays and Government-designated training holidays.
Salary: $33.64 / hr. (Includes H&W)
