Survey CAD Drafter – Civil 3D / Easement Exhibits
Legends Field Group (LFG) is seeking a Survey CAD Drafter to join our growing surveying team. This position will primarily focus on preparing easement exhibits, right-of-way exhibits, and other survey-related drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
We are looking for someone who understands survey drafting and can take field survey data, deeds, plats, right-of-way information, and project requirements and turn them into clean, accurate, professional deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare easement exhibits and right-of-way exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Draft proposed easement boundaries, centerlines, temporary workspace, access easements, and related survey features.
Import and work with survey field data, points, linework, surfaces, and existing CAD files.
Review and interpret deeds, plats, easements, right-of-way documents, and record survey information.
Create exhibit drawings showing property boundaries, easement limits, tract information, bearings, distances, acreage, and other required information.
Assist with preparation of metes-and-bounds legal description exhibits and supporting drawings.
Perform boundary and record information drafting under the direction of a Project Manager or Registered Professional Land Surveyor.
Maintain drawing standards, layers, styles, blocks, annotation, and company CAD standards.
Review drawings for completeness and accuracy before submitting them for internal review.
Make revisions based on comments from Project Managers, clients, and surveyors.
Organize and maintain CAD files and project drawing information.
Coordinate with survey crews, Project Managers, and other drafting personnel when additional information is needed.
What We Are Looking For
Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Previous experience in survey drafting, land surveying, right-of-way, utilities, pipeline, or easement work is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and understand deeds, plats, surveys, and legal descriptions.
Understanding of bearings, distances, coordinates, property boundaries, easements, and survey terminology.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while also communicating with Project Managers and survey staff.
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
Pipeline and utility surveying
Easement and right-of-way exhibits
Boundary surveying
Metes-and-bounds legal descriptions
Civil 3D survey databases and field-to-finish workflows
Trimble survey data
ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
Record research and deed plotting
Construction, as-built, or topographic survey drafting
Position Focus
This is primarily a survey drafting position, not a civil engineering design position. A major portion of the workload will involve creating easement and right-of-way exhibits in Civil 3D for survey and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate can receive survey information and record documents, understand what needs to be shown, and efficiently develop a professional exhibit that is ready for review by a Project Manager or RPLS.
