Job Title: Survey Project Manager
Location: San Diego, CA (or Riverside, CA)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager to oversee surveying and construction staking projects across Southern California. This position involves managing clients, staff, and project execution in accordance with state and local standards. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and leader with expertise in land development and public works surveying.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all phases of surveying and construction staking projects.
Provide direction, training, and mentorship to survey staff.
Prepare project proposals, budgets, and cost estimates.
Oversee scheduling, time management, and quality control.
Prepare CAD drawings for boundary surveys, topographic maps, ALTA/NSPS surveys, land title surveys, subdivision maps, and other deliverables.
Submit project documentation to city and county agencies.
Coordinate bid document preparation and contract administration.
Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and public agencies to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in survey mapping, preferably in private land development or public works projects in California.
At least three (3) years in a management or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of California jurisdictional codes, municipal standards, and surveying procedures.
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Trimble Business Center (knowledge of Carlson software is a plus).
Skilled in preparing legal descriptions, boundary analysis, closure calculations, and exhibits.
Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate field crews and survey analysts.
Manage daily assignments, scheduling, and performance reviews.
Oversee project budgets, hours, and scope of work.
