    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our Japanese restaurant team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment while assisting with basic food preparation tasks to support our culinary staff. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to multitask, and committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness and organization in a fast-paced setting.

    Responsibilities:

    Dishwashing Duties:

    Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment in accordance with health and safety standards.

    Ensure all dishware and utensils are properly cleaned, dried, and stored for use.

    Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, including sinks, counters, and floors.

    Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in designated areas.

    Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.

    Prep Cook Duties:

    Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables, salads, or side dishes.

    Prepare ingredients for miso soup, rice, and other traditional Japanese dishes as directed.

    Portion and package ingredients for sushi rolls, sashimi, or bento boxes.

    Maintain proper food storage practices, ensuring ingredients are fresh and labeled correctly.

    Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.

    Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean and organized prep area, including refrigeration units and storage spaces.

    Requirements:

    Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is a plus.

    Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

    Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

    Basic knife skills and familiarity with food safety practices preferred.

    Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

    Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.

    Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

    Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Japanese cuisine and ingredients is a plus.

    Working Conditions:
