Responsibilities: The Job We are looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented individual to be our next Paralegal. What would a paralegal do? • Paralegals are integral members of our firm who are responsible for ensuring our clients receive the best legal service possible • Paralegals deal with clients regularly and engage in case management • The Paralegal’s primary goal is to provide attorney support by assisting with legal research; drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other documents; as well as maintaining client files • The Paralegal communicates with opposing counsel, the court system, and other administrative agencies • The Paralegal manages the attorney calendar to ensure all appearances are prepared for, and deadlines are met Qualifications: The Essentials • Being fluent in English and Spanish is preferred • You must have a High School Diploma • You must be a North Carolina Certified Paralegal or have a degree/coursework in paralegal studies. Five (5) years of experience of working in a law firm in a Legal Assistant/Paralegal role or having a JD degree can be substituted for the certification or degree • College or university credits are preferred • Two (2) years of experience working in a law firm. A college degree can be substituted for one (1) year of law firm experience • You must be a positive and uplifting person. If you see the glass as being half full, you are the type of person we are looking for • You must be competent and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, at a minimum. If you are familiar with Practice Panther, Basecamp, or Lawmatics, that is a plus • You must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task • You must be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done right the first time • You must be a team player.
