Title: Sustaining Engineer (Electrical)

Wright Technical Services is supporting a leading manufacturing organization in their search for a Sustaining Engineer to support product performance, reliability, and continuous improvement across advanced welding and plasma cutting systems.
This role is focused on post-launch product lifecycle support, including troubleshooting, design improvements, and validation efforts. The engineer will work cross-functionally to enhance product quality, reliability, and manufacturability while supporting both production and field-related challenges.
Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Work in a team environment supporting sustaining engineering and product lifecycle initiatives
- Analyze field-returned products and production test failures to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Implement changes to product designs, documentation, and test procedures to improve quality, reliability, and cost
- Provide technical support to resolve production issues, field service challenges, and customer concerns
- Identify opportunities for design optimization, material changes, and manufacturing process improvements
- Perform and oversee testing and validation of design changes to ensure performance and compliance
- Evaluate alternate suppliers and components to ensure reliability and fit-for-use
- Ensure existing designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service teams
- Provide technical support to Sales, Marketing, and Service teams as needed
- Engage with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders on product performance and improvement initiatives
- Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and continuous improvement of processes
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, sustaining, or manufacturing support environments
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing workloads
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable performing hands-on work when needed
