The Position: At the British Swim School, we teach fun swim lessons, but that’s not all! We shoot through the water like torpedoes toward our swimmers’ goals! We are a team of fun-loving people who are serious about saving lives and having fun while doing it!
Working at the British Swim School, you will notice that...
We look for bright, energetic people who are willing to roll up their sleeves, take on new assignments, and juggle many things at once while happily asking, “Is that all you’ve got?”
In return for your efforts, you’ll have an opportunity to work with a fast-growing, creative, and culture-driven company with a proven track record of outstanding customer service. You’ll also get to help promote a life-changing learning experience for our students every day.
As a Swim Instructor, you'll be provided with the training to teach swim lessons to children (starting as young as 3 months old) and adults, following the established British Swim School aquatics program which is gentle, fun, and progressive. You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by the Aquatics Lead and interact with swimmers, and parents and/or guardians.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Delivery: Lead engaging swim lessons for various age groups (infants to adults) and skill levels following the British Swim School curriculum.
Safety First: Maintain constant surveillance of students in the water; enforce all pool rules and safety regulations to ensure a zero-accident environment.
Progress Tracking: Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate attendance records, and complete "Skills Updates” in our registration and billing system.
Parent Communication: Provide clear, professional feedback to parents/guardians regarding their child’s development and next steps.
Equipment Care: Set up and take down lesson equipment (kickboards, noodles, toys) and report any maintenance needs to the Aquatics Leader.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: An enthusiastic personality and experience working with children (in an aquatic setting is a plus)
Skills: Strong swimming ability in all four competitive strokes; excellent verbal communication and "patience with a smile"
Safety Training: Current CPR, First Aid, and/or AED certifications required and maintained throughout the length of your employment; must complete and pass all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing
Schedule: Must be available for Wednesday afternoons (3 PM – 7 PM), Thursday mornings (11 AM – 2 PM), and Sunday mornings (11 AM – 3 PM)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual English / Spanish
Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred
Customer service skills: 1 year preferred
Position Details:
Status: Part-Time (approx. 12–15 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $16.50 – $18.00 per hour
Location: Gainesville, GA
About Us: Here at the British Swim School, we are more than just a fun, surface-level swim lesson provider. We strive to make a substantial impact within our communities to combat the tragically high child-drowning statistics. We invest heavily in our team members and teach our lessons with the mindset that we are two schools in one, a survival school first and a learn-to-swim school second. As a result, we can support our mission “to ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer”.
