Classification: Salary, Exempt – Salary is commensurate with experienceReports to: Timothy Heffron, Owner Date: March 2022 (anticipated start May 2022) Summary Solo Aquatics of the North Shore is a brand-new age group team in the Boston Metro Area. We are currently seeking our first Head Coach to oversee the program. We use a well developed feeder program and will be progressing those kids into our first two levels of the age group swim program. This coach will report to the Director of Competitive Swimming and work together to apply and execute the philosophy of the program to the swimmers. This position is ideal for the young coach who KNOWS they want to be in this profession and wants to have resources behind them to help them grow and learn to be a great coach. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Attends and coaches swim team practices and meets • Maintains constant supervision of students, identifies students who need assistance, and supports students as necessary to ensure a positive learning environment • Helps to create new approaches to serve the needs of program participants • Adheres to policies and procedures in organizational guidelines, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency incidents • Maintains positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and other staff, handling customer conflict and complaints, as necessary Required Qualifications • Bachelors Degree or equivalent and/or 3+ years swim team coaching experience • 5+ years of experience on a competitive swim team • Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm • Must have or be able to obtain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding Certificate • Must have or be able to obtain USA Swimming Coach Membership • Reliable transportation to travel between locations is a must • Ability to recognize students who may need assistance • Ability to recognize and remedy hazardous and dangerous situations Preferred Qualifications • Master’s Degree • 5+ years of experience as a swim team coach • 3+ years of experience on a collegiate level swimming team Work Environment The Swim Instructor must remain indoors at a facility pool with water and air temperatures of 75 degrees or higher at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemicals and fumes. Physical Demands Walks, runs, sits, stands, bends, lifts, swims and moves continually during working hours; is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. Must remain alert and able to recognize distress signals.
