    OVERVIEW

Swing Left is the premier nationwide resistance group able to coordinate directly with progressive campaigns and ensure that volunteers are successfully integrated in the lead up to the 2020 elections. Swing Left is seeking a volunteer Regional Organizing Coordinator (ROC) for Texas, who will support the work of our amazing volunteers in this Super State. The Texas ROC will build strong relationships with volunteers and teams through coaching, support, and connection to Swing Left resources.

Position reports to the Swing Left Texas State Director. Candidates in Texas are preferred, but could be remote.

    ABOUT SWING LEFT

Swing Left is a national grassroots organization that took back the House in 2018 by building a national campaign for Democratic candidates in 84 Swing Districts in three big ways: recruiting and training an army of volunteers, raising funds from grassroots donors, and building cultural momentum for the midterms. For 2020, we'll be bringing our “campaigns-in-waiting” model to swing Senate seats, defend the House, win the state-level races needed to ensure fair maps for 2021 redistricting—and, of course, the Presidency.

In 2018 we took back the House. Join us, and help transform our government in 2020.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serve as primary liaison to volunteer leaders to support their grassroots organizing work in Texas
    • Ensure volunteer leaders are trained and effectively deploying Swing Left's organizing toolkit
    • Work with volunteer groups to efficiently integrate with campaigns after the primary
    • Continually build volunteer capacity in Texas by building relationships with existing teams and fostering the emergence of new teams
    • Provide a consistent point of contact for Texas volunteers to Swing Left from now through election day 2020
    • Accurately track regional volunteer capacity and provide regular turf snapshots for Field Directors

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A passion for Swing Left's mission to take back all the Houses in 2020.
    • A demonstrated ability to build and maintain volunteer structures, either in a campaign or a grassroots organizing capacity.
    • Aptitude for connecting with people, forming and maintaining new relationships, and asking folks to step up.
    • Comfort in a rapidly changing campaign environment.
    • High level of comfort with using technology to support organizing (Slack, email platforms, social media platforms, etc). Experience with digital organizing not required but is preferred.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, and consistent reporting habits.
    • Ability and willingness to spend 10-15  hours a week on this work through election day 2020.
    • Fluency or near in Spanish language is preferred

Position is at will, but with an expected commitment through election day 2020. While this is a volunteer position, Swing Left will reimburse selected expenses and provide other resources.

We believe that the GOP's bad behavior disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society — including people of color, people from working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, women and LGBTQ people. We believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities and members of other marginalized communities.
