About Us: We are dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based care to individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use disorders. Our residential detox facility offers a safe, supportive environment for clients undergoing withdrawal and preparing for the next phase of treatment. We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in the day-to-day care of clients undergoing detoxification and early recovery at our residential facility. BHTs are responsible for monitoring clients, supporting clinical staff, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and ensuring client safety at all times. Will provide additional support to other staff as necessary.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and document clients’ behavior, mood, and physical condition according to protocol.
Conduct regular wellness and safety checks.
Assist with admissions, discharges, and orientation of new clients.
Support clients with daily activities and encourage participation in the program.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including shift reports and incident reports.
Work collaboratively with clinical and medical teams to support client treatment plans.
Uphold facility rules and policies to ensure a safe and structured environment.
Respond to crises and de-escalate situations using trauma-informed approaches.
Use motivational interviewing skills.
Assist with facility cleanliness, preparing for new intakes, and other custodial tasks.
Assist culinary team as needed with prep and cleanup.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Prior experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting required; Min 1-3 years preferred.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if transportation duties are required).
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Valid TB clearance (or willingness to obtain at company expense).
Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and a nonjudgmental attitude.
Must pass a background check, drug screening and health screening.
Filing, copies, other office duties as assigned.
Completion of charting which includes observations, shift notes and other documentation required.
Other duties as assigned.
