Position: Sr Innovation Engineer

Experience and Responsibilities:

• Promote IT innovation through research and development and by providing assessments of new and evolving technologies, techniques, and industry best practices in IT infrastructure (e.g., hardware, software, network infrastructure, telecom, and industry best practices)
• Engage in focused Proof of Concepts and Prototypes for Enterprise IT environments that have global footprint – where candidate has leveraged one or more of emerging tools, technologies and techniques such as use of Cloud, Big Data, Microservices and others – in innovative ways that align with the strategic goals of the enterprise
• Monitor and track emerging tools and technologies by following industry and academia research efforts. Maintain a technology radar of promising and applicable candidates and as needed develop and brief analysis on business cases, considerations, etc.
• For qualifying Proof of Concepts and prototypes work to update related and engineering processes, practices, and applicable artifacts to facilitate the secure, consistent, and standards-based use within USAID environment
• Engage stakeholders to identify points of frustration and issues in IT delivery and develop proposed solutions and innovations to improve performance and delivery
• Evaluate and update capacity and performance management processes and tools
• Conduct root cause analysis of IT Infrastructure and Network malfunctions and their remedial strategies
• Support the timely resolution of selected Tier 3 or higher IT Infrastructure trouble tickets
• Document the design and troubleshooting of technology platforms and procedure
• Assist with planning and implementing systems and network integrations

Requirements:

• MA/MS and 10+ years’ experience or BA/BS and 15+ years’ experience
• Experience working in a multi-cloud environment or experience working hands-on in both Azure and AWS
• Strong experience in Software Engineering and/or IT networking and infrastructure engineering with both Waterfall and Agile,
• Certification desired: Agile/SAFe, AWS Certified Developer
• IT generalist with broad experience and strong current understanding of all IT domains (Infrastructure, Networks, Applications, Security, Mobile, Cloud, Big Data, and others)
• Strong experience and considered an expert at a global enterprise scale in the design, implementation, integration and maintenance of:
  • Enterprise IT Storage solutions including transition from traditional monolithic storage solutions to cloud-first strategies
  • Active Directory and related directory services including Single Sign-on (SSO) tools including PING Federate and ADFS
  • Microsoft Server lifecycle management and upgrade evolutions
  • System Center Configuration Manger (SCCM)
  • Virtualization and Cloud (AWS, Azure, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, VMware)
• Experience communicating and coordinating across multi-levels in an organization from vendor to CIO
