DENTAL BIILING SPECIALIST
ADMINISTRATIVE

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER
SUMMARY
The Dental Billing Specialist provides support to our dental practices through managing the account receivables cycle from processing of claims, posting of insurance payments, claims appeal and resubmission, and collection of any outstanding patient balances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Resolve discrepancies by examining and evaluating data
- Experience in account ledger balance auditing is a plus
- Processing timely and appropriate billing from payers.
- Reviewing patient accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of claims billing for maximum reimbursement.
- Providing information to insurance carriers or patients regarding patient accounts
- Must be able to understand Dental Billing, Payment Posting, Cash Posting & Dental Reimbursements.
- Working knowledge of dental terminology, CDT codes, and revenue codes for billing are required.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients regarding their account balance.
- Pull reports weekly to assess office status and work need
- Track production and work completed - including daily work assigned by leadership
- Utilize balance sheet to balance bank amounts with practice management system amounts
- Adjust patient bills by reviewing remittance advice
- Answer any billing questions or patient issues
- Resolve discrepancies by examining and evaluating data
- Post and review unapplied payments regularly to ensure statement accuracy
- Review’s patient accounts marks corrections as needed.
- Monitoring and reconciliation of claims

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A High School diploma or GED is required.
- 1-2 years of experience in the dental insurance billing field.
